I have been using Audiofinder for a while but I noticed that recently it takes many bounces to get going. Just now it took 45 icon bounces. Admittedly I have quite a large library ranging in GBs but the thing is, audio finder used to handle an even larger library much faster.
Yesterday I did some housekeeping hoping I could get a faster load but it still takes a while. I downloaded the latest beta but that didnt help. I was wondering if there is a cache needing deleting or I need to point audifinder to a directory to load quicker.
Yes, that's the time it takes to set up the Audio Unit plug-ins. If you turn off Audio Units it will launch in like 2 seconds. All DAWs have this type of delay as well. You can turn off AUs in the Preferences->Audio tab. The only improvement that can be done here is to add a progress box so you know what it's doing.
I analyzed the performance and most of the time is spent building the Sidebar's AudioUnit item. It reads all the plug-ins and presets, this takes the lion's share of time. So, I made it an Preference to not have the AudioUnits in the Sidebar.
Exceptional customer service. To fill you in on what has changed on my system to cause this now I know, I recently got a UAD duo and as you know it installs every plug in even though they arent activated so I have lots more AUs knocking about.
