Using analyser plugins
  • I wish to use Meldaproductions MAnalyser or Blue cat FreqAnalyst both AU plugins but they prevent audio from being played and nothing is displayed. I know AudioFinder has some great analysis feature but these plugins are quite useful. Is there a reason or am I doing something wrong? I did search on the subject and looked on the manual but did not turn anything up. Hope you can help

    Many thanks

    Simon
  • Hmmmm. It's not on purpose, I'll have to contact the plug-in developer and see what the issue maybe.
  • Thanks in advance
  • Ok to refine the problem. The MeldaProductions Analyser seem to struggle with 96khz files lower sample rates an they work fine. This processor is not taxed. Any thoughts?

  • No idea there, AF is using a pretty simple CoreAudio chain with the plug-in. It's the developer's bug, sorry...
  • Sorry, another plugin which I feel may be related, may be not. IK Multimedia's ARC does not work. When instantiated it prevents anything from being played. I use it for room correction. It allows me to hear the sounds flat

I am on Mac OSX 10.6.8 and I am using the latest version of ARC and it does not work at any sample rate. I know it may be different but it does work in my DAW's

    Hope you can help

  • I just tested a file at 24/48 AND 24/96 with Blue cats FreqAnalyst, and it played just fine.
I'm on 10.7.3 and using the latest version of AF
  • Thanks for trying them out and feeding back.Thats good to know for when I inevitably upgrade. But still frustrating that these plug-ins dont work. Any other thoughts?
  • Other then a fresh reinstall of your OS, or an upgrade, no..I'm afraid I have no other
    thoughts.
I take it your using the latest version of AF.
If that's the case, then it's either a problem with your OS, possibly a corrupted pref file
for AF, or a myriad of other potential issues, that I'm not in a position to guess about.
  • Thanks anyway.

  • Um...my point was they do work (Blue cats FreqAnalyst anyway).. i was suggesting there could be an issue with your system, or perhaps the interface your using might be related
to the issue (have you tried working with just the built in sound on your mac and see if the plugins still don't work?)

    good luck
  • All I can do is say I don't know. I try my best to make the AudioUnits 100% work, but very often developers implemented the "standard" in non-standard ways. The thing is I can usually fix it if I own the plug-in, but it's difficult to get the developers to give free copies for development testing. I'll see if I can obtain some copies.
  • Sorry sdfalk I get what you mean, I have tried it with built in audio and my audio interface. It sound like an operating system upgrade might fix it but it is quite an undertaking for just the Blue Cats plug in. It might be a system issue, but I don't have any such problems with Live, Studio One , Reaper, Audition, AudioMulch, MaxMSP only AudioFinder. I appreciate there are so many plugins to keep up with and I will be patient and its not the end of the world, just a bit frustrating. It doesn't crash or anything so its not a killer problem. I do hope you get some feedback from IK Multimedia (ARC) in particular as it helps greatly to hear my sounds better. I think Audiofinder is great. Thanks for the help so far
  • Easy workaround you might not have thought of:
Use Soundflower or JackOSX to route your audio out of AudioFinder and into a channel strip in your DAW of choice. Then insert your plugins in the channel strip.
  • great suggestion ninox.
