5.5.6 Beta
  • Added auto-saving (caching) of Scans and Scan Sets!

Here's how this works. Like normal you navigate to folder and then click Scan or click on a Scan Set and it will scan.
However, it will automatically save the results. So the next time you click on it, you get the saved results instead of rescanning.
To force a rescan Double Click the item or click the Refresh button.

You don't need to bother saving a scan now.

Let me know how it works?

  • so far soo good..

havent had time to set up many super scan sets yet..

but looking much faster on large folders ( from the cache )

thats gonna be handy on projects... :)

    brb!

  • well just thrown about 30 out of date scans away!

    got some weirdness tho..

not all scan sets can be moved...

take a look at my movie...

( not sure which link works for you.. so............ )

  • bah!

my bad - I got confused cos the icons are the same! ( sorry :8 )

I hadn't actually made a scan set.. it just looked like one when you click on the folder .. - I havent used the library much recently.

updating my library before I start worki today

    cheers!

  • Keep me posted. I'm going to work on this interface and make it more clear...
  • basically works as advertised... and the cache is great! :)

any chance of the searches being preserved when changing between a scan and a scan set

( actually they arent preserved when switching between scan sets...??? )

so If I totally embrace scan sets and drop scans - I lose something! :(

and preserving searches was a *major* improvement.....

it was a real work flow booster!

  • I've got a number of tweaks to make this better. Right now, I'm dealing with Mountain Lion testing.
  • look forward to :)

i will probably go back to scans for a while - all tho there are situations now where the scan sets are waaay more useful...

  • The next thing is make Scans work like Scan Sets, you will be able to drag a scan to a Group and then have cached results with a double click for refresh.

Mountain Lion work is tough, they changed Xcode pretty big...
  • sounds good..

altho I would request not a dble click for refresh tho - I'm getting a bit twitchy and do that by accident quite a lot ( its my wacom pen set up )

just my personal pref - cos some of those scans take ages!!!!

maybe the pulldown as it is fine?

mountain lion sounds scary! I havent bothered going beyond snow leopard,,, it aint broke for so dont fix it ( saying that it is broke! cos my spotlight keeps on stopping working... )

but everythin else is just great!
  • Mountain Lion isn't scary it's just going to be new as always and apps usually need a few months to adapt.
  • :( - just double clicked by accident on the whole library scanset..

    please wait :(

anyone else do doble clicks by accident? I think its either my RSI/arthritus or wacom tablet set up. ( wacom is good fro precise control tho! )

also noticed that when removing stuff from side bar,,, you might right click and on an item but it's not selecting the item you clicked on - rather the item that was selected previously...
  • Ok. I have a better version of this!

    http://www.beta.zip

This one works differently. Do the following.

    1. Navigate to a folder you want to Scan.
    2. Select the 'Scan "blah"' item
    3. Drag that to a Group

I think you will like this.
  • link appears to not work?
  • ahh you right!

easier! and it auto names them

still have to go via the library to groups tho.. - I guess I have too many scans in library/ too many sidebar items ? so sometimes not easy to drag the scan set where I want ( maybe I can delete some? )

if I make a scan set using right click - make scan set - the scanset is default "untitled" so still need to open up the scan set setup..

probably will just use the new method now :-)

be great to have search preservation,,'

would it be easy to have a key stroke to jump thru the list of keyword searches ( not search result ? but search this "string" in this list? )

    cheers

Updated the beta. Now the normal Scan and Import require double click. Added Tooltips to all items in the sidebar.

  • not always reading the right cache?

sometimes it just gives you the last search you ran in the cache?

  • I'll check on it. Does double click fix it?
  • yep - I will try and make a video today - was a bit stressed yesterday
  • Found a bug in the cached feature. try this version. when in a sidebar group double click to scan. single click for cache (if present).

  • ok installed. whats to expect? :)
  • It should work smoothly. You should be able to drag either the Scan "Blah" item or a Scan "Blah" Set item to a group and have caching. And anytime you scan the same folder from the normal Scan "Blah" item it should first try and load the cache of it (single click) or else (double click) to scan.

Updated the beta and improved the Process-Trim Fade feature to support milliseconds.
  • whats new in this one? I'm 2 beta's behind :0

  • bug fixes :)
